The purpose of the rings:
Piston rings used in internal combustion engines are compression and oil scraper. Compression rings are designed to prevent breakthrough of gases from the cylinders into the crankcase, and oil scraper prevents the penetration of oil into the combustion chamber.

The structure of the rings:
Rings are made of cast iron or steel in the form of round elastic rings with a slit.
The oil scraper ring differs from the compression ring in that it has a series of through openings through which oil passes through the holes in the grooves under the rings, and then goes into the crankcase
