Purpose of the rings:
Piston rings used in internal combustion engines are compression and oil scraper. Compression rings are designed to prevent the breakthrough of gases from the cylinders into the crankcase, and oil scrapers prevent oil from entering the combustion chamber.

Ring structure:
Rings are made of cast iron or steel in the form of round elastic rings with a slit.
The oil scraper ring differs from the compression ring in that it has a number of through openings through which oil enters under the rings through the holes in the grooves, after which it descends into the crankcase
