Purpose of the sleeve:
The cylinder liner is the most critical element of the engine body. Its inner surface together with the piston bottom forms the combustion chamber. The sleeve also serves as a guide when the piston moves.

Sleeve structure:
The cylinder liner belongs to the class of hollow rods. It is made from high-hardness gray cast iron. To reduce friction of the piston and piston rings, as well as to create a reliable seal, the inner surface of the liners has a high class of finish and is called the “mirror” of the cylinder. To increase resistance to wear, the inner surface of the liners is hardened to a depth of 1-3 mm with high-frequency HDTV currents.
